OZIL
Mesut Ozil is no nearer to returning to the Arsenal first
team after illness ruled him out of the last two games.
Arsene Wenger says he is unsure when the German
international will be available for selection having not played since the 1-0
win over West Brom on Boxing Day.
Ozil was criticised for his performances in Arsenal's
back-to-back defeats by Everton and Manchester City before Christmas and he was
not at the Vitality Stadium to see Arsenal come from 3-0 down to snatch a draw at Bournemouth.
'I haven't seen [Ozil] for a week,' Wenger told Sky Sports
on Tuesday.
'It was an easy decision [to not include him]. He is still
in bed.
'He's not available and I don't think he will be available
for the next game as he hasn't done anything for a week.'
Ozil is unlikely to be involved in Arsenal's FA Cup clash with
Preston at the weekend and so could be back in contention on January 14 for the
game with Swansea.
