POGBA
A former Red Devil has criticised the Manchester United
midfielder after his poor showing against Liverpool, where the Frenchman
conceded a penalty.
Former Manchester United youth player Eamon Dunphy has hit
out at world-record signing Paul Pogba, claiming the midfielder is 'useless.'
Pogba put in a disappointing performance on Sunday as United
were held 1-1 by rivals Liverpool, conceding a penalty to the Reds for a
handball in the area.
James Milner gave Liverpool the lead from the spot, but
Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck late in the second-half to give Jose Mourinho's side
a point.
Summer arrival Pogba's performance was heavily criticised by
former Republic of Ireland international Dunphy, who does not believe the
23-year-old is living up to his price tag.
"Pogba was never worth £100 million," Dunphy told RTE.
"At £20m he would have been expensive. With the money
they've spent with Mourinho and [Louis] van Gaal, they should really have a
better team."
Dunphy has been less than impressed with Pogba's impact on
the pitch since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus.
The midfielder helped the Turin side to four successive
Serie A titles, but Dunphy has not yet seen the kind of performances he was
expecting with United from the £100m signing.
"Paul Pogba is very immature," the former
midfielder continued.
"He plays like a kid. He is not worth the money they
paid for him and he won't be worth the money they paid for him.
"He is the elephant in the room. He's useless."
Pogba has made 20 Premier League starts for the Red Devils
so far this season, scoring four goals as Mourinho's side attempt to return to
the Champions League.
United are currently sixth in the table, but are just four
points behind the top four and 12 shy of leaders Chelsea.
