Oscar touches down in China as Brazil midfielder completes £52million move from Chelsea to Shanghai SIPG

Brazilian midfielder Oscar touched down in China on Monday ahead of his eye-watering £52million move to Shanghai SIPG.

The former Chelsea man was mobbed by adoring fans at the airport as he arrived to begin his adventure in the Chinese Super League.

Oscar is set to earn £400,000-a-week in Asia, and the 25-year-old was all smiles as he received flowers and met supporters at Shanghai's Pudong Airport.

He was adorned in a club scarf and met members of a supporters' club, who had been waiting to greet him with gifts upon his arrival in China.

Oscar's big-money move away from the Premier League comes after he fell out of favour under Antonio Conte at Chelsea this season.

He had not started a game for the league leaders since mid-September and, despite playing 11 matches this term, made the decision to move away.

Oscar's move to Shanghai SIPG is the most expensive by a Chinese Super League club so far, as he joins up with former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas in January.

CHELSEA HAVE MADE £314M FROM PLAYER SALES SINCE JUNE '13
The sale of Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for £52million has caught the eye, but it only speaks for the way Chelsea have succeeded when selling players since June 2013.

After that date Chelsea have made a staggering £314.4m from player sales, more than any other side in the Premier League.

The same club broke the previous money record when they signed Oscar's Brazil team-mate Hulk in June.

He joined for £47m from Zenit St Petersburg, but his £320,000-a-week move is dwarfed by that of Oscar's.

After sealing his move, Oscar wrote on Instagram: 'I want to thank Chelsea, the owner and all the employees who have made my time at the club so special.

'A very special thank you to the Chelsea fans you guys are very special and I am honoured to have been a part of your club. We have won some special titles together.

'The UEFA Europa League, the League Cup and of course Premier League Champions!!! You will always have a special place in my heart.'

Chelsea added: 'Chelsea Football Club and Shanghai SIPG have agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Oscar.

'We thank Oscar for his wonderful service and wish him the very best of luck for the future.'
