KANTE
JAMIE REDKNAPP has likened N’Golo Kante’s effect on the
pitch for Chelsea to that of a ‘mole’.
The
midfielder, who joined Chelsea for around £30m over the summer, has been instrumental for the
Blues.
After a tentative start, Kante has been a key
cornerstone of Antonio Conte’s formation switch to a 3-4-3.
The former Leicester star produced a typical
all-action display as the Blues beat
Middlesbrough 1-0 yesterday to go top of the table.
It
ensured their sixth victory on the trot in the Premier League.
And Redknapp has used an intriguing analogy to
describe Kante.
“I remember standing with Leicester’s coaches
on the final day of last season and asking about how important N’Golo Kante was
to their midfield,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“They
told me: ‘We play with Kante on the left, Danny Drinkwater in the middle and
Kante on the right! Kante is like a mole — he pops up all over the pitch!'
“He is a nightmare to play against because he
covers so much ground, puts you under pressure and never wastes the ball.
“He was superb against Middlesbrough on Sunday
and you only have to look at how much Leicester have struggled without him to
see the impact he makes.”
Chelsea host London rivals
Tottenham in their next league game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
