CONTE AND LUIZ
Chelsea are favourites to beat title rivals Manchester City
when they clash in the Premier League, according to Mark Schwarzer.
Antonio Conte's men have won their
last six Premier League games without conceding a goal, scoring 17 times
themselves in the process.
They won 1-0 at Middlesbrough on
Sunday, which took them top of the Premier League, and Schwarzer - a former
player for both the teams who met at the Riverside - thinks they can now beat
anyone in the league, including City at the Etihad.
Speaking as a pundit for Sky Sports, Schwarzer said: 'They are two games where Chelsea,
I think, go in as favourites to win both of those games on current form.
'Definitely they are favourites for
the first one against Tottenham, but against City, they are playing team who
are not doing as well as they were at the start of the season. Chelsea are the
team to beat at the moment, their form speaks for itself.
'Of course it is going to be a different
game when you go to Manchester City, the rivalry between them, two teams vying
for the title, the record generally doesn't come into play.
'At the moment, Chelsea will have
the most confidence going into those games.'
Manchester City host Chelsea on December
3, and Pep Guardiola's team will have to find a way of dealing with Antonio
Conte's 3-4-3 formation, which since being introduced at half-time of their 3-0
defeat at Arsenal has swept all before them.
CHELSEA'S LAST SIX PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Oct 1: Hull City 0-2 Chelsea
Oct 15: Chelsea 3-0 Leicester City
Oct 23: Chelsea 4-0 Manchester Utd
Oct 30: Southampton 0-2 Chelsea
Nov 5: Chelsea 5-0 Everton
No 20: Middlesbrough 0-1
Chelsea
Schwarzer said: 'They just look very
comfortable, defensively they have a great understanding. The formation with
Azpilicueta on the right, David Luiz and Gary Cahill as well, I think they have
all settled in very nicely.
'Alonso has slotted in very well at
left back, the surprise I suppose is Moses at right wing back, but he is able
to do that because he has the extra cover.
'Chelsea were not at their best
against Boro, but they are comfortable with the system, everyone knows where
they are supposed to be. When games are not going to plan, they slot into
position and grind out a result.'
