HAZARD
The Belgium international is back to his best, scoring seven
Premier League goals in 11 appearances, supposedly putting him on the same
level as the best in the game.
Eden Hazard can be rated amongst the world's top
footballers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, according to Chelsea
legend Pat Nevin.
The Belgium international has stunned Blues fans with
his performances this season following a lacklustre campaign in 2015-16.
Hazard has already bettered his goal tally from last season
in just 11 appearances, scoring seven goals, with his display in Saturday's 5-0
win over Everton on Saturday coming in for particularly high praise.
The 23-year-old scored twice and was instrumental in Antonio
Conte's side climbing to the top of the Premier League table, before being
ousted by Liverpool, and Nevin believes the diminutive playmaker is at the top
of his game.
"There were stunning performances throughout, with Eden
Hazard showing precisely why it is not silly to ask whether he is capable of
consideration alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.
"Diego Costa was colossal and David Luiz bestrode the
match like a world-class footballer playing against an under-11 side.
"I could go on about every player with the exception of
Thibaut Courtois.
"I have no idea if he was on good bad or indifferent
form because he scarcely got a sniff of the ball."
But while Chelsea's recent performances have impressed
Nevin, he stopped short of calling them favourites for the title.
"This isn't to say Chelsea are going to walk away with
the league title but at the very least it suggests this is a team that will be
in the shake-up come May," he added.
"Simply put, Man City, Liverpool and even Arsenal have
had games this season where they have looked quite phenomenal.
"The football has been sparkling and the goals have
rained in.
