Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insists Cesc Fabregas is not for sale: 'He is in my plans and in the club's plans'

FABREGAS

Antonio Conte insists Cesc Fabregas is not for sale.

The midfielder is yet to start in the Premier League under Conte since the Italian took over in the summer and has played just 26 minutes in the competition. Fabregas started the League Cup tie with Bristol Rovers and played the entire match but they are the only three matches he has featured in.

But Conte said: 'Cesc is in my plans and in Chelsea's plans. We all know Cesc as a fantastic player. I see him in every training session with great work rate.

'If he continues in this way, it'll be very difficult for me to choose my midfield. But I want this from a player, putting many doubts in my mind over choosing someone else. Cesc is a great player.

'We all know Cesc, a great technical player. Now I'm starting to get to know him as a man. A great personality.'

Conte confirmed that David Luiz will make his debut, for a second time, at Stamford Bridge against Liverpool on Friday, because John Terry is out with an ankle injury. The Brazilian defender was a surprise £34million deadline day signing from Paris Saint-Germain.

'John strained the ligaments of his ankle,' Conte said.

'The doctor told me, after 10 days, he can come back. But the player is working, working very hard. Today he had a training session to recover. Tomorrow David Luiz will play for the first time with us, and we are confident about this.

'We expect him to play very well, with great attention. We know David is a great player. We are working to put him in the best condition to give us the best of him.'
