MATCH PREVIEW: CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL

CHELSEA V LIVERPOOL

Kick off: 19:00 GMT. Friday, September 16, 2016

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea and Liverpool will face off tonight in what will be a very important fixture for both sides.

Chelsea are currently 2nd on the table while Liverpool aren’t too far off in 6th place, and only 3 points separate the two sides.

This game is always a tough fixture, and the last time Chelsea met Liverpool, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp will meet for the first time in the English Premier League, and both managers are seeking to revive the fortunes of their respective clubs.

The last time these two sides met at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners.

The last six Premier League games between Chelsea and Liverpool have seen Chelsea victorious in 3 of them, Liverpool won just 1 and 2 ended in draws.

A win over Liverpool will see Chelsea record three successive home wins in the Premier League for the first time since May last year. However, Chelsea have only beaten Liverpool twice in the last nine league meetings at Stamford Bridge (W2, D3, L4).

Diego Costa has been on fire this season and has already scored four goals – it took him until Boxing Day to reach that tally in the Premier League last season.

The good news for Chelsea is that Liverpool don’t have a good defence away from home. Their only clean sheet in 12 away games during this calendar year came against Aston Villa in February.

My prediction: This will be a tough game with lots of passion and energy, but Chelsea will run out 2-1 winners. I’m tipping either Luiz, Costa or Hazard to be on the scoresheet tonight.
