Reading manager Jaap Stam claims Asamoah Gyan failed his medicals

GYAN

Head Coach of Reading Football Club, Jaap Stam said in a press conference that, the Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan failed medical and added that the attacker wasn’t in good shape.

The former Sunderland striker was pushing hard to get a club on the dead line day in the window transfer but reports emerged that the Stars captain failed his medicals with the Championship side.

Gyan quickly debunked claims after signing for UAE side Al Ahli claiming he wasn’t ready to sacrifice to miss the 2017 AFCON because he is the captain of the team but the Jaap Stam says Gyan failed his medicals.

Speaking to media, Stam said, “He was not in good shape.

“Our medical people are not going to lie. That is why we made the decision not to sign him.”

And Stam says if Reading are spending money on a player then they need to know he is ready to perform, something which was not the case with Gyan

“If we are going to be spending money then we need to make sure he is fit and ready to perform.” Stam added.
