BADU
Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has called on
Ghanaian supporters to rally behind them as they take on Rwanda in their last
AFCON qualifier that will be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Stars are poised
to maintain their unbeaten record against the Amavubi.
There have been ups and downs ahead of the match. The Sports
Ministry asked the foreign based players to cater for their airfares because
they don’t have enough funds to fly the players back to the country. They again
informed the GFA to use locally based players because Ghana have already booked
their ticket for the 2017 AFCON coming in Gabon.
But the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder has pleaded
to the country and the supporters to put the wrangling’s going on between FA
and the ministry behind them and rally behind the team.
Speaking to Asempa Sports, Badu said, “We are ready for the
match. We the players have spoken to ourselves but when all these wrangling’s started,
we were a bit disturbed but as the coach said, we are eager to maintain our 100
percent record so we are focus Rwanda and nobody else.
“The truth is that, we were worried about what was going on
between the FA and the ministry but we the players have to be patriotic and
that was why came because there is always a perception that we play for money
and nothing else. We the players have the country at heart regardless of
whatever is going on and we want to show our patriotism on the pitch against
Rwanda tomorrow.
“We will make sure we maintain our unbeaten record on
Saturday but I must say that the local players have also done very well because
they have really shown that they ready for the match but I am begging the
country and supporters to come and rally behind us because we still need them.”
He added.
