CONTE
Antonio Conte expects more from his players than any manager
Asmir Begovic has worked with before.
Begovic was signed by previous
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in July 2015, but feels the Italian brings more
intensity to the training ground, which in turn has helped the Blues improve
this season.
Last year, as reigning champions,
Chelsea suffered a shocking start to the season which saw them plummet towards
the relegation zone and Mourinho lose his job, before eventually finishing
10th.
Former Italy manager Conte was
appointed last summer, and has improved fortunes at Stamford Bridge as the club
aim to launch a title bid once again.
Begovic told the Mirror: 'One thing is his intensity. He pays attention to
detail every day and the expectations he has on a daily basis are very high.
'If we reach that high level every
day in training then it translates into games. So I think that those
expectations are something very new. The way we work on a daily basis is good
for us.
'It is not necessarily longer on the
training ground. We manage the hours very well and do whatever work is
necessary – sometimes longer if needed, sometimes shorter.'
One of the major improvements made
by Conte has been Chelsea's defence – they have conceded just nine goals in
nine Premier League games, compared to 16 at this point last year.

But despite these improvements and
his own focus on keeping the ball out of the net, Begovic has been impressed by
Conte's all-round methods.
He said: 'The defensive work is
important. He takes a lot of pride in that. But the whole team and the roles of
everyone on the pitch are identified equally and every department is important.
'It starts from the defence, but he
puts detail and work into every part of the team.'
