DARMAIN
INTER MILAN have made an offer to take Manchester United’s
Matteo Darmian on loan with a view to a permanent deal, according to reports in
Italy.
The
right-back has lost his place in the team to Antonio
Valencia under Jose Mourinho this season
and has a queue of clubs from Serie A keen
to have him on board.
Manchester United could sell their current right-back Matteo
Darmian to Inter Milan
Juventus, Roma and Napoli have all shown interest in Darmian.
But Leggo report
it’s Inter who have made the first move for the United man
with a £900,000 loan offer with the option to sign him permanently for
£12.6million.
That
would see the Red Devils recoup what they paid for him, but they are playing
hardball and demanding £16.2m for the 26-year-old Italy international.
However, the Nerazzurri are hoping Vice-president Javier
Zanetti’s strong relationship with Mourinho will help them secure the deal
ahead of their rivals.
The
pair was manager and captain when Inter won their famous Treble in 2009-10.
Darmian
was an early hitting after moving to Old Trafford from Torino last season.
Javier Zanetti and Jose Mourinho struck up strong
relationship together at Inter.
But a long-term injury to Luke Shaw forced Louis van Gaal into a
defensive reshuffle and the Italian was forced to constantly switch flanks,
losing any real consistency.
He lost
his confidence after a poor performance at the Emirates saw him subbed off at
half-time with United 3-0 down against Arsenal.
Darmian
recovered somewhat towards the end of the season, but has barely got a look-in
under Mourinho.
